Vegetables

Most of the foods you eat should be raw, high-nutrient, high-fiber vegetables. You can eat any vegetables in unlimited quantities, as long as they are not on the list of foods you should not eat that you find below in the article.

How to eat vegetables

Salads

Ideally, you should eat at least 50% of raw vegetables in salads. You can also eat them steamed. The key is to eat as many vegetables as you can, including between meals. Because they are full of nutrients, it is impossible to eat too much.

Shakes

In addition to salad, a quick way to eat a lot of greens is to โ€ฆ drink them. Iโ€™m not kidding. I mean green shakes of spinach, kale, or mangold. The simple recipe for a shake is:

  1. Put 300-500 ml of water in the blender

You will get a quantity of shakes of a few cups. Each cup is the green equivalent of a salad. Drink a cup of green shake and keep the rest in the fridge for the same day. You can drink 1-3 cups a day.

The advantage of shakes is that you can make them quickly and drink them quickly. I know you donโ€™t have enough time in a day to do everything you have to do. When a seed begins to germinate, an extraordinary amount of nutrients is released from that seed. If your goal is to be healthy and heal your body, germs are essential in your diet.

Consumption of small amounts of germs is equivalent to the consumption of large amounts of vegetables in terms of nutrients.

If you do not like vegetables or you can not eat a lot of vegetables, then add some germs daily to your diet. Put them in the salad as often as possible. You can grow them at home in a germinator or you can find them in natural product stores.

Fruits

The only fruits you should eat are the ones listed below. You should consume them mostly in the evening, except for apples, which you can consume at any time and in any quantity.

In this program, it is important not to eat more than 1/3 of the fruits you eat. For example, if you ate 1 kg of vegetables a day, you should not eat more than 300 grams of fruit. Apples are not included in this calculation, you can eat as many apples as you want.

Do not eat the following fruits, as they are high in sugar and low in fiber: bananas, dates, figs, raisins, canned fruits, nuts and mangoes.

Avoid fruit juices. The fiber in whole fruits slows down the increase in insulin levels, which is one of the hormones that activates fat deposition. Juices, however, do not contain fiber but have many sugars that lead to increased insulin levels and fat deposition.

Nuts and seeds

You will need to eat a large amount of nuts and seeds between meals to prevent hunger. Walnuts and seeds are full of nutrients, but they must be raw and soaked in water overnight.

  1. Soak the seeds and nuts in filtered or spring water overnight

3. Set aside the amount you will eat that day, and put the rest in the refrigerator.

Raw almonds and walnuts are best, but you can also eat other seeds such as sesame seeds, cashews, pine seeds, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, pistachios, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds.

You can also eat sesame paste (tahini) or small amounts of peanut butter. Make sure that peanut butter does not contain added sugar or hydrogenated oils.

What not to eat in the liver detoxification program

Avoid any food that contains monosodium glutamate or modified starch. Glutamate is a flavor enhancer that not only makes food taste better, but makes you hungrier. Thatโ€™s why you canโ€™t stop eating just a potato chips, and thatโ€™s why youโ€™re hungry an hour after eating Chinese food. Many foods in restaurants, especially Chinese restaurants, contain this chemical. It also causes a strong water retention in the body.

Food to be consumed in limited quantities

Dairy products

You can eat a small amount (80-100 gr. Per day) of fresh low-fat cottage cheese or 170-200 gr. low-fat plain yogurt. A little butter is also ok. You can also sprinkle a very small amount of Telemea / feta cheese on salads.

Animal proteins

During the detoxification of the liver you will not eat animal proteins (meat, fish, dairy, cheese), except those mentioned above โ€“ small amounts of skimmed cowโ€™s cheese or skimmed yogurt.

However, if on the second or third day you feel dizzy, tired and/or cold due to low blood sugar, if you notice hair loss or if you have a craving for protein, add a small amount of animal protein in it. every day.

If you need to eat animal protein, as mentioned above, the most suitable proteins are:

Start with one egg a day (can be boiled) or a small piece of fish. Donโ€™t eat too much animal protein, just eat the right amount to satisfy your hunger. It is better to eat small amounts more often, because overeating will stress the liver and turn proteins into fat.

What dietary supplements can you use to detoxify the liver

Cruciferous vegetables are very rich in nutrients and phytonutrients, which contribute to the regeneration of the liver. If you do not eat too many cruciferous vegetables, sometimes it is worth resorting to a supplement based on them. Nutrients from cruciferous vegetables will provide the raw material for rejuvenating the liver, as well as restoring the potassium reserves of the cells. Cruciferous vegetables have a high potassium content and a low sodium content, so they help balance fluids and slow down the insulin response.

Water and herbal teas

During the program

Bloating

If you have problems with bloating during the program, you have two options:

How often should I do the liver detox program

My suggestion is to do liver detoxification two or three times a year. If you want to keep your liver in perfect shape, you can do this program even every two months.

How to prepare for the program

I recommend that you stock up on the foods allowed for the program before you start, and think about different menus for at least a few days in advance, ideally for a week. One of the biggest obstacles when you want to follow a diet different from your usual eating style is not to have the necessary food at hand. When you are hungry, if you do not have the right foods for liver detoxification, you will be tempted to resort to inappropriate foods.

Also prepare the right food for the office, or check if the places where you usually buy or order food have good dishes on the list for the liver regeneration program. Beware of salads, it is preferable to order them without dressing, because it usually has added sugar or additives.

Why cravings make you fat

Many people think they are gaining weight because they eat too many calories. It is not like that. You can eat a lot of calories from salad or vegetables and you will not gain weight. But if you eat fewer calories from bread, rice, potatoes, sweets, you will deposit fat. It is not the number of calories in food that matters the most, but their glycemic index, which shows how quickly that food turns into sugar / glucose in the body. And it also matters a lot how much potassium you have in your diet.

The foods we usually crave, such as sweets, flour, starches, quickly turn into glucose in the body. This causes your blood sugar to rise rapidly, and then insulin, the hormone that lowers blood sugar, is activated.

The problem is that insulin is one of the hormones that causes fat deposition. The sugar that insulin removes from the blood is converted into fat when there is not enough potassium available. Every time your craving makes you eat foods with a high glycemic index, insulin comes into action and creates fat while lowering your blood sugar.

You donโ€™t even need a lot of calories to activate insulin. You can eat two cookies, and youโ€™ve already triggered your insulin response. You donโ€™t need a lot of calories to lose weight. It is enough to activate insulin regularly.

If you have a slower metabolism, each time the insulin response is activated, fat burning is blocked for 24-72 hours.

If you eat a diet based on salads and vegetables to lose weight, but every two days you eat a cake, your chances of losing weight are minimal. That is why you need to understand what are the causes of cravings and what you can do to get rid of their domination.

Causes of cravings

Appetite has two types of causes: physiological or emotional.

In this article we will only talk about physiological / physical causes. We will also address emotional causes in other future articles.

Physically speaking, when you crave a certain thing, your body tells you that it is missing something. The problem is, you donโ€™t understand whatโ€™s missing, and you give your body something other than what it needs. The body will continue to signal to you that it needs something, even if you think you gave it what it wanted.

Below you will find the causes of the most common cravings and solutions you can apply to reduce cravings.

The craving for sweets

Cause: lack of potassium

The body reserves fuel, which it uses for its rapid needs. The fuel is called glycogen and is a molecule composed of molecules of glucose and potassium. Glycogen is stored in the liver and muscles and is used whenever the body needs energy for effort.

When you do not have enough potassium available in your body, a problem arises. Even if you ate foods that brought a lot of glucose into your body, your body can only produce glycogen within the limit of available potassium. All other sugars that cannot be converted to glycogen are converted into fat and stored.

The problem is even bigger, in fact. Because the necessary glycogen stores could not be created, the body sends you the message that you need to eat more, because it knows that it still needs to create glycogen stores. If you eat something that contains enough potassium, your body will be able to produce the necessary glycogen and the feeling of hunger will disappear. If what you eat is not enough potassium, appetite and hunger will continue, and what you eat will be largely turned into fat.

Solution: Eat at least the equivalent of 7 cups of green vegetables daily.

In order to have enough potassium in your body, you need to eat enough green vegetables. An amount of 7 cups of greens per day (about two servings of salad) gives you the potassium needed to create enough glycogen.

I donโ€™t know anyone who eats two salads of greens a day. The solution to bring enough potassium into your body, when you are not eating two servings of salad daily, is to add to your daily diet some of the alternatives below:

a green shake (spinach, mangold, or kale) or,

a portion of green wheat or barley juice, freshly squeezed or obtained from wheat or barley grass powder

a cruciferous supplement (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.)

If you have added enough greens to your diet, but the craving for sweets persists, this may be a sign that you need more protein in your diet. Add protein, especially for breakfast. Protein eaten in the morning stabilizes blood sugar levels during the day and reduces the risk of making you crave sweets in the evening.

Craving for bread, biscuits, pancakes, flour, rice, potatoes potatoes

Cause: lack of B vitamins

When you feel like craving bread, your body actually asks you for B vitamins.

The body needs certain minerals, including sodium. When you go on a salt-free diet, your body may become deficient in sodium. Even when you put salt in food, if you use refined salt, your body may become deficient in certain trace elements. The refined salt contains only sodium and chlorine, without other minerals.

Through the desire to salt, your body signals that it lacks minerals. If you eat salty foods with refined salt, you will almost certainly not bring the missing minerals into your body. But there is salt that in addition to sodium and chlorine has many other minerals needed by the body. One such salt is sea salt.

Solution: use sea salt in food

Youโ€™re hungry all the time

Cause: saturated fat deficiency

Unsaturated fats are essential for a healthy diet. But you also need a certain amount of saturated fat in your diet. Saturated fats are the ones that give you the feeling of satiety.

Do not deny your desires. Find healthy options

Itโ€™s not smart to try to deny your cravings. Even if you want to lose weight or you want to stay, you donโ€™t have to pretend that you donโ€™t have cravings, when you actually have them. The best option is to apply the above solutions or eat the healthy options of the foods you crave.

Are there healthy alternatives to โ€œunhealthyโ€ foods? Yes, and below you will find some suggestions.

Sweets substitutes

Use sweeteners such as xylitol, sorbitol, stevia instead. Put them in tea, coffee, or mineral water.

Buy sweets with xylitol, sorbitol, stevia. There is chocolate, jams, soft drinks sweetened with these sweeteners. Just look at the label.

Note: I do not recommend โ€œDietโ€ or โ€œZero sugarโ€ soft drinks if they are sweetened with Aspartame or similar substances. There is evidence that Aspartame is harmful to long-term health, and it is best to avoid it. There is a debate on this topic, there are pros and cons, but until the situation is definitively clarified, my suggestion is to go for the safe options.

Any of the above alternatives you will use, you will reduce the number of times you will activate insulin or at least the intensity of its activation, which will help you lose weight easier or not put back the pounds you just lost.ย 

Chips replacements

Who doesnโ€™t like to nibble on some chips? I like one. Maybe itโ€™s the habit, maybe itโ€™s their taste. French fries are tempting for anyone, and chips like that are after all. With a high glycemic index, plus an amount of refined salt added, the chips can also block your fat burning or cause fat deposition due to the insulin response.

Make cakes according to recipes that use something other than wheat flour for the dough. There are countertops that can be made from ground walnut and egg, or from almond flour. Obviously, use xylitol or another sweetener without a glycemic index as a sweetener for these recipes.

Hydrogen generators (H2)

A hydrogen generator (H2) produces and dissolves molecular hydrogen in an electrolysis chamber, just like a water ionizer. The difference between them is the membrane. New technologies in hydrogen generators use special proton exchange membranes (PEMs), as opposed to ion exchange membranes used in water ionizers. This is the technical part.

Proponents of hydrogen generators make everything sound complex and new, but this type of membrane has been around for some time. It is widely used by researchers in the automotive industry who want to obtain electricity from hydrogen. Hydrogen generators work the other way around: they use electricity to create hydrogen. Leaving aside the technical terms, things are pretty simple.

One difference of the new technology is that it does not depend on the alkaline mineral content of tap water to create hydrogen. Another difference is that the new generators create hydrogen without increasing the pH, which means that the device creates water with hydrogen but without creating alkaline water.

Unfortunately, some of the promoters of hydrogen generators exaggerate a lot when they claim the superiority of hydrogen generators over water ionizers. They are very critical of water ionizers, which in the end were the first to give us the opportunity to drink hydrogen water, while hydrogen generators had not yet been invented.

Are hydrogen generators โ€œfar superiorโ€ to water ionizers? All water ionizers? We donโ€™t believe that.

Even though our Ionpia H2 hydrogen generator consistently produces high concentrations of molecular hydrogen (H2) on a variety of water sources, on many water sources and a traditional water ionizer (especially the new advanced H2 series from Alkaviva) it performs just as well. Are minerals deposited or not?

A justified reproach to some models of water ionizers is that in areas with hard water on the electrodes minerals can be deposited, which quickly reduces the concentration of hydrogen (H2) generated close to zero. This is especially true for older technology ionizers that clean the electrodes only at certain intervals, or require manual cleaning with citric acid at short intervals.

One leg saved from amputation caused by arteritis

Recently, one of our customers was kind enough to share with us how alkaline water helped him get rid of a big problem.

Below is the story of Mr. Alexandru Bรฎzdรฎc told by himself, which we publish with his consent. I kept his story, adding only a few subtitles and accents to make it easier to read.

Iโ€™ll start with the end: Mr. Bรฎzdรฎc escaped the amputation of his second leg by drinking alkaline water.

โ€œI am writing these lines both for my friends on Facebook and for the multitude of patients who suffer from diabetes and implicitly from obliterating arteritis, and who, sooner or later, reach stents mounted in the coronary, iliac, subclavian arteries, or worse, at the amputation of the lower limbs.

I retired in 2002 after a heart attack and since then the troubles (medical problems) have continued.

The effects of diabetes on blood vessels

Due to the insulin-deficient diabetes detected in the โ€™90s, in the period 2002-2005 I had 3 surgeries (for both of my feet) by which my arteries were replaced (due to massive atheroma deposits) with femoral-popliteal vascular prostheses (by-passes), on the right leg twice.

In 2011 the bypass of the right leg began to close (by atheroma deposition) which brought the stenosis of the arteries below the knee (tibial and peroneal) closer to 100%. Having major problems with coronary arteries, the doctors refused to change my right leg bypass (it would have been the third time) and recommended that I take a daily infusion of โ€œvasaprostanโ€ (an expensive drug and which was distributed through CNAS with special approval), for 30 days, the procedure being considered (then) as a means of saving the foot from amputation.

In my case this procedure (vasaprostan infusions) proved to have the effect of rubbing with โ€œGalenicaโ€ on an acacia leg. As the number of infusions increased, the pain in the sole of the foot grew greater and the foot was always cold.

I informed my doctor several times about the evolution of the disease (unbearable pain and cold leg) but not only did he not notice me but he did not even take a strain on my leg. For understandable reasons, I wonโ€™t give his name.

After 20 days of infusions, one morning after I woke up, I saw that my toes were black and suppurating. I had gangrene.

I called the emergency room and the doctor on duty at the vascular surgery department (being a day off) refused to admit me on the grounds that they did not cut fingers and recommended the emergency staff to notify the surgery department for amputation.

I went to Bucharest and was admitted to the University Emergency Hospital at the vascular surgery clinic.

The last solution โ€“ amputation of the right leg

On December 6, 2011, my toes were amputated on my right foot. Because gangrene continued, on December 9, I underwent a new metatarsal amputation and my vascular prosthesis was replaced with a saphenous vein harvested from the amputated leg.

On December 12, I had a heart attack and was admitted to intensive care. On December 15, I had a cardiac arrest and was intubated โ€ฆ I was intubated for several days in a state of unconsciousness, during which time my lungs were aspirated several times a day.

After being discharged from intensive care I was admitted to cardiology and after a while I started coughing harder and harder. I was treated for bronchitis until I was discharged from the hospital.

The cough continued after discharge and eventually I arrived again in the emergency room in Constanศ›a, at the ENT department, where it was found that due to the aspiration maneuvers from intensive care, after cardiac arrest, my trachea was injured, which led to the appearance of an outgrowth that eventually almost blocked my trachea.

I underwent emergency surgery (post-intubation tracheostomy) and the operation was to put a plastic cannula under Adamโ€™s apple through which I was breathing. Leg surgery has never been cured.

In June 2013, 5 stents were implanted in my coronary arteries at Fundeni Hospital.

In September 2013 (unlucky year) the amputated leg pain started again, being forced to accept a new amputation this time above the knee.

Eventually, in September, I had three successive amputations of my right leg.

After the third amputation, I went home with half of the strands from the stump unscathed and my foot swaying in the amputation area. After another month of treatment at home, a nurse managed to heal my abutment.

After 3 years, the left leg has the same problems

Starting with the spring of last year, my left leg, which I have had a femur-popliteal prosthesis since 2004 (they are guaranteed for 5-6 years), started to hurt and swell, the situation getting worse at the beginning of 2017, with all the medicines, the ointments and massages (including lymphatic) that have been given to me and done all this time.

In February 2017 I had a vascular/arterial Doppler examination which showed that the bypass has a stenosis of 70%, that the anterior tibial is occluded, the posterior tibial has 98% occlusion and the peroneal artery also has 98% occlusion.

Finally, the cardiologist who did the Doppler exam, probably to encourage me, told me that in 2-3 weeks I will reach the amputation of my left leg and showed me where to amputate itโ€ฆ

The unexpected solution comes from a friend โ€“ Alkaline Water

I have a good friend and colleague from the ninth grade of high school, the energy engineer GรŽDEA-Sฤ‚NDUศšU VERGICฤ‚ from Filiaศ™i to whom I told about my trouble and that in a short time I will lose my left leg also by amputation.

Very relaxed in conversation and nonchalantly he told me that I donโ€™t have to worry that no one will amputate my leg and that he will solve my problem.

I replied that it was a misplaced joke that at least made me sad, so as not to tell him anything else.

He explained to me that it was not a joke, that he could not afford to make jokes with me in the given situation and asked me if I had heard anything about IONIZED ALKALINE WATER.

Honestly, I hadnโ€™t heard.

I told him that I donโ€™t know what it is and that I donโ€™t think there is a drug in the world (of which we should be aware, stupidity) that can dissolve atheromas on the arteries, โ€ฆ much less WATER, no matter what it is called โ€“ crow, sanctified or ionized alkaline.

Realizing that he had no tangible arguments to convince me, he told me that this water does absolutely no harm to the body by consuming it and that he sends me water starting the next day, having previously bought an ionizer for the production of this water.

He calmly told me that, in my situation, I have two possibilities, namely:

โ€“ first, to wait for the arterial blood circulation in the leg to close permanently and to reach gangrene and amputation;

โ€“ second, to drink at least 5 liters of alkaline ionized water daily, the water that will melt the atheromas on my arteries, the blood circulation returning to normal, and to save my leg.

I chose the second option knowing that it is terribly difficult to live without a leg and to force yourself daily so that your disability does not stress those around you โ€ฆ. Without both legs, I think it is not worth the pain thinking that for those close to me, I would have become an ordeal (I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™m wrong in thinking so).

I started drinking ionized alkaline water, sent by my friend, in the first days 3 liters and then, easily, I drank 5-6 liters a day.

The effects of ionized alkaline water in obliterating arteritis

Until then, the foot was, from the knees down, cold and white, and the pain and burns, especially at night, were unbearable; I ended up taking 3-4 ketone pills a night.

After 2 weeks of drinking ionized alkaline water, the pain and burns diminished and in a few days they disappeared completely. After 3 weeks, the foot warmed up and has remained so until now.

On March 17, I went to a private clinic in Constanศ›a and I had (for the amount of 800 lei, CNAS funds not allocated until then) an angio CT examination of the arteries in the pelvis and lower limbs which showed:

โ€“ amputation of the right thigh;

โ€“ 50% by-pass stenosis;

โ€“ tibio-peroneal trunk occlusion 70%;

โ€“ posterior tibial artery โ€“ occlusion.

In the meantime, I was scheduled for hospitalization at the University Emergency Hospital of Bucharest and on May 12, 2017, I had arteriography that showed that the aorta and iliac axis are permeable, femoropopliteal bypass is permeable and the leg trunk is permeable.

Arteriography is an invasive investigation of the arteries and remains the most significant in the analysis of blood circulation, measurements, and images being made from inside the arteries.

Wellnessist note: the two tests mentioned above (CT scan and arteriography) show that the blood vessels that were previously closed in a proportion of up to 98% have now become permeable between 30-50%, so the blood can circulate again. Thus, the gangrene that seemed inevitable did not occur. The leg was saved from amputation.

I canโ€™t put into words what I felt when the doctor who did my investigation recorded her voice as a result of viewing the monitor that showed the arteriography. It seems that never in my life has a word as trivial as โ€œPERMEABLEโ€ had such a valuable meaning.
